Antipasti

Our delicious antipasti is ready to serve either on its own, as a tasty snack, or to enhance a salad.

There are few greater pleasures than sharing our delicious foods with friends and family.

Alfresco is best all year round if the weather permits!

Mixed antipasti: our colourful mixture of olives, sun dried tomatoes, Feta cheese, artichoke hearts, cornichons, balsamic onions, stuffed peppers and other tasty appetisers.

Stuffed vine leaves: also known as dolmades, these Turkish vine leaves are stuffed with cooked rice, herbs, spices and onions. We sell these in small 400g tins. They can be served hot or cold.

Sun dried tomatoes: rich flavoured, tender tomatoes from Italy, marinated in extra virgin olive oil with fresh garlic and Provençal herbs. They make a tasty addition to many recipes and salads.

Red cherry peppers stuffed with cheese: sweet with a hot edge, these crunchy African peppers are filled with soft creamy Feta and Ricotta cheese and are marinated in sunflower oil.

Artichoke hearts: dressed with a light herby vinaigrette, our artichokes are delicious on their own, or in a salad.

Artichokes are low in fat and rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals and are among the most antioxidant rich of all vegetables.

Olives and antipasti taste much better at room temperature, so don’t forget to take them out of the fridge an hour or so before serving to bring out their true flavour.

Cheese

Why not try our delicious Mediterranean cheeses? They are traditionally made PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) products. This protects their quality and means they come from a defined geographical area. Serve them on the cheeseboard in chunks with fresh pears, figs, grapes and walnuts, along with a glass of red wine.

Greek Feta cheese: made using pasteurised sheep’s and goat’s milk, this traditional cheese is tangy, creamy and delicious. It is available dressed simply with extra virgin olive oil, or with sliced green olives and strips of our own sweet preserved lemons.

Parmigiano Reggiano: outstanding, vintage Parmesan, matured for a minimum of 30 months, made only in a small area of Northern Italy using unpasteurised cow’s milk. Serve on the cheeseboard, or grate over a salad or pasta sauce.

Pecorino Sardo Medora: Sardinian hard cheese made from pasteurised ewe’s milk and perfectly matured for 6 to 8 months. It is ideal for shredding onto salads, grating, or served as it is on the cheese board.

Grana Padano Riserva: flavoursome vintage hard cheese, matured for a minimum of 20 months and made with unpasteurised cow’s milk in Northern Italy. It can be served on its own with a salad, or as a snack and is also delicious when served grated or flaked with risotto, pasta, fish and meat. It is the world’s best-selling PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) product.

We now also stock a select range of traditionally produced Westcountry cheeses made with cow’s, goat’s and sheep’s milk, as well as an excellent local farmhouse butter and organic free range eggs.
