Westcountry products

We now stock a range of delicious traditional Westcountry products which complement our Mediterranean foods.

We have personally chosen distinctive local cheeses made in the traditional way, local dairy butter and organic, free range eggs.

It is important to support our farms in the beautiful Westcountry and offer our customers wonderful regional products, along with the benefits of buying locally produced food.

Our list of traditional cheeses varies, but we generally stock:

Barber’s Vintage Reserve Farmhouse Cheddar: produced in Somerset by the Barber family, this rich and powerfully flavoured Cheddar is matured for at least 24 months. It is made using pasteurised cow’s milk and vegetarian rennet.

Godminster Vintage award winning organic Cheddar made in the heart of the Somerset countryside at Godminster Farm, Bruton: smooth textured and deliciously creamy, matured for up to 12 months and made with pasteurised full fat cow’s milk and vegetarian rennet.

Quicke’s oak smoked Cheddar produced by Quicke’s Dairy, Home Farm in Newton St Cyres, Devon: naturally matured, rich flavoured farmhouse cheddar, smoked over oak chips from trees on the Quicke’s own estate. Made with pasteurised cow’s milk and vegetarian rennet (the cheesecloth in which it is covered has been coated in lard to aid the ageing process).

Fosseway Fleece produced by the Somerset Cheese Company who are based in Ditcheat, Somerset: a smooth textured cheese with a fresh creamy flavour, made with pasteurised full fat sheep’s milk and vegetarian rennet.

Ticklemore Goat produced by Sharpham Dairy, near Totnes, Devon: deliciously creamy goat’s milk cheese, made with pasteurised full fat goat’s milk and vegetarian rennet.

Somerset Brie produced by the Lubborn Creamery, Cricket St Thomas, Somerset: creamy with a mild fresh flavour and a soft edible white rind. The curd is the colour of straw, and as it ripens from the outside in, it becomes softer and richer. Made with pasteurised full fat cow’s milk and starter culture, it is suitable for vegetarians.

Cornish Blue produced on the Stansfield’s farm on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall: creamy blue cheese with a dense texture and rich, buttery flavours, made with pasteurised full fat cow’s milk and vegetarian rennet.

Blue Stilton produced by the Tuxford and Tebbutt Creamery, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire: made to a traditional recipe with pasteurised full fat cow’s milk and vegetarian rennet, this flavoursome blue stilton is rich and creamy. It’s not from the West Country, but we had to include a great Stilton!

All cheeses taste much better at room temperature, so don't forget to take them out of the fridge an hour or so before serving to bring out their true flavour.
